The Old Norse poem Vǫluspá is perhaps the most famous and widely studied Old Norse poem. However, to date it has been difficult and time consuming to quickly compare the many English language translations the poem. To help remedy this problem, we’re happy to announce that we are introducing a new resource: The Comparative Vǫluspá (CV).

The CV allows readers to quickly compare every English language public domain translation of the poem in an easy to approach format. As part of the project, we’re also producing new transcriptions of these translation, so that you may view each translation in the form the translator intended.

We’ll be rolling out CV entries every week or so until the poem is complete. Readers can expect each installment to consist of at least three entries.
